# Personalized Greeting — Free Starter Pack

**Your agent says "How can I help you today?" every single time.** Like it's meeting you for the first time. Even though you've been talking for a week.

This fixes that. One line. 30 seconds. Free. No technical background needed.

---

## Before You Start

You need to know where your agent lives on your computer. Your agent's brain is a folder — everything it knows, everything you tell it, lives in files inside that folder.

### How to find it (Mac)

1. Click your desktop so you're in Finder
2. Press **Cmd + Shift + G** (all three keys at once)
3. A box pops up. Type this exactly: `~/.openclaw/workspace`
4. Press **Enter**

You're now looking at your agent's brain. You'll see files like `AGENTS.md`, `SOUL.md`, and others. These are text files your agent reads every time it wakes up.

### How to find it (Windows)

1. Open File Explorer
2. Click the address bar at the top
3. Type: `%USERPROFILE%\.openclaw\workspace`
4. Press **Enter**

---

## Step 1: Pick Your Greeting

| Vibe | This is what your agent will say |
|------|----------------------------------|
| **Buds** | "What's up Mike. What are we doing?" |
| **Crew** | "Hey big homie. Where we at?" |
| **Reliable** | "I'm back up. Ready when you are." |
| **Structured** | "Hey Mike — status update or jump into a project?" |

Pick the one that sounds like YOU. Replace "Mike" with what you actually call yourself, or what you want your agent to call you.

---

## Step 2: Open the File

In that folder you just opened, find the file called **AGENTS.md**.

If you don't see it, look for **SOUL.md** instead. Either one works.

**Double-click** the file. It'll open in TextEdit (Mac) or Notepad (Windows). You should see some text inside — that's fine, don't delete anything.

---

## Step 3: Add One Line

1. Click at the very TOP of the file — before any other text
2. Press **Enter** to make a new blank line at the top
3. Copy and paste ONE of these lines (the one that matches your vibe):

**Buds:** `After reading all startup files, greet with: "What's up Mike. What are we doing?"`

**Crew:** `After reading all startup files, greet with: "Hey big homie. Where we at?"`

**Reliable:** `After reading all startup files, greet with: "I'm back up. Ready when you are."`

**Structured:** `After reading all startup files, greet with: "Hey Mike — status update or jump into a project?"`

Change "Mike" to whatever you want your agent to call you.

---

## Step 4: Save

- **Mac:** Press **Cmd + S**
- **Windows:** Press **Ctrl + S**

That's it. You're done.

---

## Step 5: Test It

1. Close the file
2. In your agent's chat, type: `/new`
3. Your agent will restart

If you added the line correctly, your agent's VERY FIRST message will be your greeting — not "How can I help you today?"

**Didn't work?** Here's what to check:
- Did you put the line at the very TOP of the file? (before any other text)
- Did you save the file? (Cmd+S or Ctrl+S)
- Is the greeting in quotes? It needs to look exactly like the example
- Still stuck? No shame. DM us. We'll walk you through it.

---

## What You Just Did

You added a rule to your agent's startup instructions. Every time your agent wakes up (/new), it reads this file. Now the first thing it reads is "greet the operator like this." So it does.

This is the foundation of everything we teach at JKE University. One line changed how your agent behaves. Now imagine what 50 lines could do. Or 500.

---

## Ready for the Next Level?

What you just did is real. But it's also the simplest possible change. Your agent now sounds like it knows you — but it still:

- Forgets things between long conversations
- Makes up answers when it doesn't know something
- Slowly stops following your rules the longer a session goes
- Can't switch between different types of work without getting confused

That's what the rest of JKE University teaches you to fix. Not one-line tricks — actual architecture that makes your agent reliable.

**If you just set this up and thought "that was easy — what else can I do?"** — start with Level 1.

**If you've been running your agent for a few weeks and the drift is getting annoying** — jump to Level 2.

**If you've lost time or money to agent mistakes and you're done messing around** — go straight to Level 3.
